Miami Dolphins to coach in 2021 Senior Bowl

Last week, we speculated on whether or not the Dolphins would be in line for another major advantage this offseason to prepare for a critical 2021 NFL Draft, only to see cold water thrown on it fairly quickly. The Miami Dolphins appeared to be in a pole position to secure a spot in the 2021 Senior Bowl as one of the two coaching staffs participating and coordinating the game based on some tweets from the Executive Director of the event, Jim Nagy — but Nagy clarified later that day that the Dolphins were all the way down in 18th in the order to be selected for a spot coaching the game.

Turns out that was all the positioning Miami needed. It has been announced this morning that the Miami Dolphins will indeed be one of the two teams coaching in the 2021 Senior Bowl after all.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores released a statement confirming their participation in the game:

“The entire Miami Dolphins organization is excited to take part in this year’s Senior Bowl. In this unique run up to the draft, the Senior Bowl will be a great opportunity for our coaches and personnel department to interact with these players for a full week. We look forward to working with these prospects as part of this premier event with a tradition of featuring top talent.”

The Dolphins will indeed, with four top-50 selections, get plenty of hands on time with NFL Draft prospects in what will be the biggest sample size any team in the league gets with any prospects between now and the Draft. That’s a pretty darn good place to be.
