Yesterday tight ends, wide receivers and quarterbacks took the field in Indianapolis for the first day of on-field testing at the 2020 NFL Combine. Today, marks the return of the big me, however — the offensive line group will conduct their own set of on-field workouts with the running backs today on Day 2.
The first group up will be interior offensive lineman (centers and guards). Here are a few key names to watch in relation to the Dolphins.
Cesar Ruiz – Michigan
Ruiz is about as tough as they come at the center position. He plays with a tenacity that helps him finish blocks and play through the whistle. The former Wolverine center can get the second level in a hurry with little effort, too — making him a potent blend and presence.
Once he gets hands on linebackers, Ruiz is capable of getting big push off the ball thanks in part to his mobility. That mobility is his best physical trait and that should be on display today.
Logan Stenberg – Kentucky
Brian Flores wants physically and mentally tough players on his roster? Look no further than Stenberg. He is the old school, physical brawler on the inside at guard. Stenberg stands at 6-6 and 317 pounds, offering natural strength and power when blocking. He may not blow anyone away athletically, but his strong hands will be on display during the bag drills.
Lloyd Cushenberry – LSU
Couldn’t leave a national champion off of the list! Cushenberry, much like Ruiz, is fantastic getting to the second level and blocking in space. He plays with good leverage and technique while run blocking. He is an upgrade the Dolphins would be lucky to have in the heart of their offensive line.
All three of these interior offensive lineman fit what the Dolphins are looking for. and would definitely fill a huge need for the Dolphins. Today will be a great day for Dolphins fans to tune in!
