Men’s golf team tied for 10th at Gators Invitational

Tennessee men’s golf team tin 10th place after first day of Gators Invitational

After one day of the Gators invitational, the No. 4 Tennessee men’s golf team is in 10th place at the tournament.

The first day of competition was extended in an effort to get players to play as many holes as possible as expected inclement weather looms in the Gainesville area.

All teams in the tournament completed at least one full round and 12 holes of the second round.

The Volunteers shot 7-under during the first day of play.

Rhys Nevin was Tennessee’s top individual as he fired a 5-under 65. He is tied for fourth.

Tyler Johnson carded a 68 and is tied for 27th place on the individual leader board.

The Vols’ Spencer Cross is tied for 54th as he shot a 69. Bryce Lewis is tied for 54 after firing a 70. Brayden Garrison cared a 1-over 71 on the first day in Gainesville.

UT’s Hunter Wolcott was 3-over on the first day of competition for the Vols.

Georgia has the overall team lead as the Bulldogs shot a combined 20-under. Liberty University is second (-17) followed by LSU (-14), Auburn (-14), Florida (-13), Alabama (-13),Vanderbilt (-12), Washington (-9), South Florida (-8), the Vols (-7), Georgia Southern (-6), Jacksonville (-4), Arkansas (-3), North Florida (-1), South Carolina (E), Mississippi State (+2), Missouri (+3), West Virginia (+4), Coastal Carolina (+5), Penn State (+11) and Central Florida (+14).
