Menifield will be non-scholarship redshirt in 2023-24

Keyon Menifield, a guard who was the first portal addition by Eric Musselman back in early April, will be a non-scholarship redshirt and not play in 2023-24.

The basketball roster roulette wheel keeps spinning even when you’ve think it’s stopped.

On Friday, it was announced that Keyon Menifield, a guard that portaled to Arkansas from Washington back in early April, would be sitting out the 2023-24 season as a non-scholarship redshirt.

Menefield will still be allowed to practice with the Razorbacks, he just won’t suit up or play in any games.

This leaves a spot open at guard, but it’s unlikely that the coaches are actively looking at anyone else this late in the game.

With Devo Davis returning on top of the other guards that Eric Musselman landed in the portal, including El Ellis, Khalif Battle, Tramon Mark and Jeremiah Davenport, it doesn’t seem like it will be too much of a setback.

In fact, it may allow him to learn Musselman’s system and grow and mature and be ready in 2024-25 to have a huge year.
