Michigan State hired Mel Tucker to be its newest head football coach on February 12, 2020. Tucker was set to replace the legendary Mark Dantonio.
Tucker had just gotten his first head coaching gig at the University of Colorado, a year prior. After departing after just one season, it has brought a lot of doubt to his longevity in East Lansing, shall he succeed.
Tucker has done his best to quell the doubts, stating how he believes MSU is a destination school. Tucker even went as far as calling MSU his dream job.
Tucker: "Michigan State has been my dream job since 1997. This is not just another opportunity for me and for us in East Lansing."

Nick Saban gave Tucker his start in the coaching world, hiring him as a graduate assistant in 1997 at Michigan State.
