Mel Tucker asked about Colorado, Coach Prime at Big Ten media days

Mel Tucker believes that Coach Prime will be “wildly successful” at Colorado

Everybody’s favorite former Colorado football head coach was asked about the surging Buffs while taking questions on Wednesday at the Big Ten media days.

Now entering his fourth season leading Michigan State, Mel Tucker shared his confidence that Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders’ overhaul of Colorado’s roster will lead to success.

“Prime has done a great job so far,” Tucker said. “I’m pulling for him and the Buffs to get that thing going again. He’s got his own process that he’s following, obviously. And I think he’s going to be wildly successful there.”

Following an 11-win 2021 campaign, Tucker’s Spartans went 5-7 last year, leading some to argue that he’s on the hot seat. Five is also the same number of wins Tucker produced in 2019, his lone season at CU.

USC head coach Lincoln Riley also gave Coach Prime credit for what he has done so far in Boulder. Pitt’s Pat Narduzzi and Oklahoma’s Brent Venables, however, have not been as supportive of Sanders.
