By the time the second Augusta National Women’s Amateur is played, excitement for the event will have had an entire two years to build after Jennifer Kupcho and Maria Fassi dueled over Augusta National Golf Club’s back nine in the April 2019 inaugural event.
The ANWA was canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it returns to the calendar in 2021. Players who had received an invitation to play in 2020 were invited to the 2021 event, provided they had not turned professional.
Augusta National sent invitations in January, and so far 85 players have confirmed they will play the 54-hole event, scheduled for March 31-April 3. That means the field has been expanded from 2019, when 72 players started the week.
The first two rounds take place at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta before a cut to the 30 players that will compete at Augusta National in the final round on April 3. All players in the field will play a practice round at Augusta National on April 2. NBC will once against broadcast the final round.
