If you’re craving flowery vibes, Overwatch 2’s new support hero might be a much-needed breath of fresh air.
On Tuesday, Blizzard officially unveiled Lifeweaver, the latest hero coming to Overwatch 2. Utilizing “biolight” technology that harnesses the power of nature, Lifeweaver supports others primarily through abilities that either heal or assist with movement – which is pretty in line with recent teases. It’s an odd description, but one that Overwatch 2 narrative lead Gavin Jurgens-Fyhrie suggests was intentional during the design phase.
“What really struck the narrative team is we knew we were going to do a plant hero, then we had to figure out how this person has plant powers,” Jurgens-Fyhrie said via Xbox Wire. “Then we saw the early prototypes and realized it doesn’t look like plants, but more like hard light, which led to his story being developed. It really highlights how the Overwatch team develops heroes, it’s very collaborative.”
Check out Lifeweaver’s reveal trailer below.
Lifeweaver will be playable once Season 4 of Overwatch 2 launches on April 11, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Over the past few months, Overwatch 2‘s content rollout has been steady – particularly between Between the new heroes, maps, and romantic spin-offs.
