Throughout the years, America’s Got Talent has delivered some incredibly emotional and unbelievable moments.
This week, we got one of epic proportions.
Archie Williams came to the stage in front of judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Hedi Klum and Howie Mandel, and informed them he had been wrongfully incarcerated for 37 years, and that he was released from prison when new DNA evidence revealed he hadn’t committed the crime he had been convicted for.
Williams then sang Elton John’s Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me, bringing many people to tears — including Klum — with an absolutely gorgeous rendition. He received a well-deserved standing ovation, and Cowell said he’d never forget this audition:
It was so good that John himself tweeted about it:
I was moved to tears when I heard Archie’s story and saw him perform "Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me". The courage and forgiveness shown by him is truly inspiring. The same spirit that the world found so inspiring with Nelson Mandela. Love, E xx https://t.co/oYxM3IyvWB

We can’t wait to see more from him.
