McShay: Hendon Hooker ‘a possible target’ for Titans if they trade down

ESPN’s Todd McShay is hearing that Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker is a “possible target” for the Titans if they trade back in the first round.

While a lot of the talk surrounding the Tennessee Titans and their potential to take a quarterback in the 2023 NFL draft has centered around them trading up, it appears there’s a chance they go after a quarterback after a trade back.

According to ESPN’s Todd McShay, he’s hearing that Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is a “possible target” for the Titans if they do decide to trade out of the No. 11 overall pick on Thursday night.

“I’ve heard [Hendon] Hooker’s name as a possible target if [the Titans] do drop down the board,” he wrote. “Remember, Ryan Tannehill is turning 35 years old and is on the decline.”

Hooker has been mocked all over the place, with some experts believing he’ll be a Day 2 pick, while others have him as a first-rounder.

Our Shaun Calderon has Hooker ranked as the No. 5 quarterback in this class and he believes the Tennessee product could go anywhere from late in the first to early in the third.

Personally, I’m not on board with any quarterback in the first round outside of C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young or Anthony Richardson, and I would only trade up for Stroud or Young.

However, Hooker would be intriguing to me in the second round, and I actually believe he’s a better prospect than Kentucky’s Will Levis. If he’s around at No. 41 overall, the Titans should consider it.
