Scherzer is quite the intense individual and baseball fans absolutely love that about the 38-year-old pitcher for the New York Mets. On Wednesday, the Mets’ crucial NL East matchup against the Atlanta Braves was delayed slightly by rain, a common occurrence in the long summer months.

While starting pitchers often abandon the mound after a lengthy rain delay, Scherzer was surprisingly able to keep his post after the inclement weather absconded from the vicinity. As the Atlanta grounds crew was working on restoring the mound’s integrity, Scherzer was hilariously pacing around the area like a predator stalking its prey, hoping to retake his rightful spot.

All in all, it made for a very bizarre scene after the rain delay.

It makes sense as to why Scherzer wanted back on the mound, as he was holding the Braves scoreless through nearly three innings headed into the rain delay. Still, that is peak Scherzer behavior right there.
