University of Tennessee baseball player Max Ferguson was named as a preseason All-America standout.
Ferguson, a sophomore infielder for the Volunteers, was selected as a member of the Perfect Game/Rawlings All-America second-team.
In the abbreviated 2020 campaign, Ferguson led the Southeastern Conference with nine stolen bases. He also batted .333 and clubbed two home runs in 13 games, which was shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He scored 12 runs for the Diamond Vols last year.
In his previous two seasons in Knoxville, Ferguson recorded 32 hits, scored 23 runs, totaled 15 runs batted in and swiped 13 bases despite being plagued by injuries during his freshman season at Tennessee. He has also drawn 17 walks in his career with the Volunteers.
He was one of 14 SEC players named All-America by Perfect Game/Rawlings and is considered a top prospect for the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.
