Matthew Stafford just can’t stop giving the ball away early in games. He continued that trend Sunday against the Ravens with another first-quarter interception, handing Baltimore seven points.
It came on third-and-2 deep in the Rams’ own territory, and Chuck Clark read Stafford like a book. He jumped the underneath route, picked it off and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown, putting the Ravens up 7-0 with 1:58 left in the first quarter.
It was Stafford’s fourth pick-six of the season and his 14th interception overall this year, costing the Rams seven points once again.

Stafford wasn’t done handing out late Christmas presents, though. On the very next drive, he threw another interception. This one was a deep shot to Odell Beckham Jr. on third-and-10.
There were three defenders around Beckham and Clark picked off the underthrown ball, the Ravens’ second takeaway of the day.
You’ll notice how open Van Jefferson was underneath for an easy first down, but Stafford took the shot deep, which proved costly.

The Ravens turned these two takeaways into 10 points, going up 10-0 on the Rams midway through the second quarter.
