The Panthers have started their 2020 season in the dreaded 0-2 hole, that death knell of playoff hopes. While not many people thought Carolina would make the postseason this year, the manner in which those two losses came has to be tough for fans to swallow.
Despite being underdogs against both the Raiders and the Buccaneers, both games were winnable. If the Panthers had done a better job of executing, they could very well be 2-0 right now. After today’s frustrating loss, head coach Matt Rhule told reporters that if they clean things up they have a chance to be a good team.
Matt Rhule: Main disappointment for me is an offense that didn’t turn it over last week turned it over four times today … plus the nine penalties … “If we clean all this up, we have a chance to be a good team.”

Turnovers and penalties will kill you every time in this league. They’re also to be expected from young teams, especially those that didn’t get a preseason. Those lost summer reps are looming heavily right now.
Next up, the Panthers will go out west to visit the Chargers in Los Angeles.
