Matt Prater broke out of his slump at just the right time for the Detroit Lions. The team wouldn’t have won in Week 10 over the Washington Football Team without Prater having an epic day.
The longtime kicker added to his imprint on the record book in the win. Among his accomplishments, as noted by the Lions’ media relations team, in Prater’s 100th game in a Lions uniform:
- Tied the Lions team record for the longest made FG in a home game with his 59-yard bomb to win the game. He tied his own record.
- Set the NFL record for most games with multiple made FGs of at least 50 yards. This was his seventh such game.
The game-winner was the 10th time Prater sealed the win with a kick. That’s one out of every 10 games he’s played in Detroit. That reinforces Prater’s incredible clutch ability. From the Lions P.R.,
Prater is now 22-of-22 on game-tying or go-ahead field goals in the fourth quarter with two minutes or less left in the game (16-of-16 in regulation, six-of-six in overtime).
The veteran had missed a field goal attempt in four straight games, but he was perfect when his team needed him most on Sunday.
