The Chicago Bears were defeated by the Green Bay Packers, 38-20, to kick off the 2023 NFL season. As if getting blown out by your biggest rivals in front of the entire country wasn’t bad enough, Chicago lost a key starter to injury.
Cornerback Kyler Gordon suffered a hand injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. He was replaced by Josh Blackwell at nickel. Gordon was spotted after the game with his right hand wrapped up.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus was asked about Gordon’s status during his Monday press conference. But Eberflus declined to share details other than Gordon is still being evaluated by the Bears’ medical staff.
Gordon, who played 27 snaps, had one tackle and a key pass breakup on third-and-2 before exiting the game.
Following an off day Tuesday, the Bears will return to the practice field Wednesday, which should provide us our first update about Gordon’s status.
