Outgoing Nebraska Senior Associate Athletic Director Matt Davidson called his final Nebraska game on Friday night. Davidson announced earlier in the week that will be taking on the role of president for The 1890 Initiative, a Name, Image, and Likeness collective designed to help support Nebraska student-athletes.
Davidson had been connected to the Husker broadcasts in some way, shape, or form for the last 19 years. He most recently was the lead analyst alongside play-by-play voice Greg Sharpe. In his role as Senior Associate Athletic Director, he oversaw the construction of the ‘Go Big’ Project, the $165 million facility that will be the new home of Husker athletics.
Davidson played for Nebraska from 1997-2000 as a wide receiver. He caught 93 passes for 1,456 yards and six touchdowns for his career. He’s best remembered for his role on the 1997 National Championship team. There has been no word yet on who will replace Davidson in the booth this Saturday at Purdue.
