During the regular season, MLB players have less time to work on things like infield practice relative to spring training. So, every chance to get some work in is beneficial. But the Giants’ Matt Chapman may have figured out the perfect way to throw off an opponent’s infield work:

A puppy on the field!

Ahead of Wednesday’s game between the Giants and Phillies at Oracle Park, Bryson Stott was taking some infield when his work was suddenly interrupted. Chapman’s dog, Harley, had sprinted onto the infield upon noticing a baseball on the ground — just as every good dog should.

This was the scene as Harley stole the baseball while Stott looked on laughing.

Let Harley play!

Chapman quickly ran over to retrieve Harley who looked to be having the best time before the game.

Honestly, every team should enlist an adorable puppy to distract from an opponent’s warmups. It’s a brilliant strategy, and MLB fans loved to see Harley make that pregame appearance.
