The New York Yankees were back on the field in the Bronx on Saturday for a simulated game at Yankee Stadium, but a scary incident during a Giancarlo Stanton at-bat marred the day.
Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka was hit in the head by a line drive off Stanton’s bat, and dropped to the mound. Tanaka’s Yankees teammates and Yankees medical staffers rushed to his aid, and he was eventually able to walk off of the field.
The Yankees have not yet issued any statement about Tanaka’s condition. The simulated game was broadcast live on the YES Network, and Yankees fans tweeted prayers for Tanaka after the clip quickly went viral.
