According to multiple reports, Alabama has hired Maryland head coach Rob Vaughn to be the team’s next head coach.
Vaughn is a well-known name in the Big Ten. He was named as the Big Ten Coach of the Year twice in six seasons. Over the past three seasons in College Park, Vaughn led the Maryland baseball program to new heights. The Terrapins won the Big Ten in 2022 and 2023. Vaughn also led Maryland to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
Another interesting thing to note is that Vaughn will turn 36-years old in less than a month. He is still an up-and-coming coach that has already created quite the name for himself.
With the hiring of Vaughn, it remains to be seen as to whether or not Alabama will retain its interim head coach from last season, Jason Jackson. Jackson turned the program around and helped lead the Crimson Tide to its first Super Regional appearance since 2010.
Needless to say, it appears that the Alabama baseball program will be in good hands in the coming future.
Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama baseball program.
