Jakorian Bennett says that the process of learning about Rutgers offense is ongoing, but he talked about a team that will try to take Maryland’s defense out of their comfort zone.
The Maryland senior defensive back sees Rutgers as a team that tries to confuse opposing defenses, something that he and his Maryland teammates will need to keep an eye on. This Saturday, Maryland (5-6, 2-6 Big Ten) will play at Rutgers (5-6, 2-6 Big Ten).
“With Rutgers, they do a lot of things on offense. A lot of motions, shifts. They just try to get us to change our defense and stuff like that,” Bennett told reporters on Tuesday.
“We’ll go out there and do our adjustments, continue to watch film, pick up tips and things that they’re going to try to do to help us win. They’re a good team.”
Bennett has been solid this year, with 19 total tackles, two interceptions and 10 passes defended.
He is in his second season at Maryland, having transferred from a junior college last season.
Like Rutgers, this Maryland team needs a win in their regular-season finale to become bowl eligible.
“The vibe has been good, we’re just trying to stay together, get that sixth win and do whatever we got to do,” Bennett said. “Keep working, keep practicing. Stay in the field room, do whatever we have to do to get that sixth win. The vibe is good, stay and strong, stand committed. Just trying to go out there and get that sixth win.”
