[autotag]Marvin Vettori[/autotag] wasn’t going to sit idle and allow [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag] to take a shot at his good friend [autotag]Beneil Dariush[/autotag].
Vettori (18-5-1 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC), a UFC middleweight contender who trains at Kings MMA in Huntington Beach, Calif., did not like the fact McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) decided to go to social media and roast Dariush (21-4-1 MMA, 15-4-1 UFC) in a since-deleted Twitter post Wednesday (via Twitter):
Conor McGregor doesn't appear to think much of Beneil Dariush. 😬 pic.twitter.com/8VsKgwBSVI

Beneil Dardush is the biggest nobody in the company 😂
Although McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion who is currently working toward an octagon return after suffering a broken leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July, did not provide much context to his comments, it’s easy to find where it stemmed from.
Dariush, who is recovering from his own broken leg that forced him out of a February headliner with Islam Makhachev, recently criticized Charles Oliveira for pushing for a title fight against “The Notorious” rather than the most deserving contender at 155 pounds.
That caused McGregor to snap back, and his tone rubbed Vettori the wrong way (via Twitter):
What a bitch @TheNotoriousMMA
You couldn’t last 2 min with Beneil and that’s just a fact.
You are scumbag, I hope to see you soon https://t.co/FoQcJfNjrH— Marvin Vettori (@MarvinVettori) May 26, 2022

Vettori wasn’t the only one outraged by McGregor’s message. Dariush’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA, doubled down (via Twitter):
I hop in with you @beneildariush will kill this punk https://t.co/1BkkmItarH
