[autotag]Martin Truex Jr[/autotag]. has completed his journey as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series competitor, but his story as a race car driver is still ongoing. Truex plans to return to the race track for more Cup and Xfinity Series races in 2025 but doesn’t know the specifics outside of the Daytona 500. However, one part of his plans for the 2025 Daytona 500 has changed.
Ahead of NASCAR’s banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina, Truex was asked by TSJSports’s Peter Stratta if his Daytona 500 entry will still be with 23XI Racing. Then, the former Joe Gibbs Racing driver dropped a bombshell.
“No, it’s not,” Truex said. “I’m not sure what [23XI Racing] is doing, honestly. I was told [Joe Gibbs Racing] is doing it somehow, so we’ll see.”
This is massive news for Truex, who was originally going to drive an open entry for 23XI Racing at the 2025 Daytona 500. It’s unclear who he will drive for in February 2025, but it won’t be with 23XI Racing, as they continue their lawsuit against NASCAR. For now, Truex will get some help from Joe Gibbs Racing as they figure out what to do about his Daytona 500 entry.
