Alabama guard Mark Sears announced that he is declaring for the 2023 NBA draft, but is maintaining his collegiate eligibility.
Entering the draft class for the time being allows Sears the opportunity to meet with coaches and scouts to receive advice, analysis and opinions. With that information, he can better prepare to not only be a better player, but a better NBA prospect too.
Nate Oats has an important offseason ahead of him, as he lost three assistant coaches, all of whom received head coaching jobs, and a handful of players to the draft and transfer portal.
Sears is likely to return, despite a strong 2022-2023 season. He shot just over 40% from the field and averaged 12.5 points per game. If he does withdraw his name from the draft, he could enter the transfer portal or remain with the Crimson Tide.
