During the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 132-118 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, second-year forward Jaylin Williams looked like he hurt his knee while attempting to take a charge in the second half.
After examining his knee, Williams left the floor and didn’t return to the game. He tallied 12 minutes in OKC’s 14-point loss.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said on Friday’s practice that he suffered a left knee sprain and they’ll release additional information on the extent of the injury once they know more.
If Williams is set to miss time, expect Bismack Biyombo and newly-signed Mike Muscala to absorb Williams’ backup big minutes. The former checked into the game in the fourth quarter in what was likely Williams’ spot.
The 21-year-old has been a consistent part of OKC’s rotation. In 50 games, he’s averaged 3.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
