Mark Andrews mocked Nick Bosa with his plant-the-flag touchdown celebration

Celebration battle.

The Ravens and 49ers don’t exactly have a rivalry. The two teams met in Super Bowl XLVII and could meet again for Super Bowl LIV in Miami. But there was plenty of shade thrown between both teams during Sunday’s game in Baltimore … at least when it came to the celebrations.

It started with Niners receiver Deebo Samuel. Once Samuel hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Garoppolo, he sarcastically broke out one of Lamar Jackson’s touchdown celebrations.

The Ravens obviously took notice because once Mark Andrews answered with a touchdown of his own, both Andrews and Mark Ingram mocked Nick Bosa’s plant-the-flag celebration.

With Andrews, specifically, he seemed to be continuing a battle with Bosa and the Oklahoma Sooners. Bosa didn’t take kindly to Baker Mayfield planting an Oklahoma flag at Ohio State back in 2017. So Bosa broke out that celebration against the Browns this season. And now, we have Andrews — an Oklahoma product — throwing it right back at Bosa.

That’s really playing the long game with a celebration battle.

But hey, you have to appreciate that kind of pettiness in a marquee matchup. The NFL needs more of that.
