Marcus Trufant to raise the 12th Man Flag for the Seahawks on TNF

The Seattle Seahawks have easily the best pregame tradition in the National Football League by having a notable Seattle icon raise the 12th Man Flag before action starts. On Sunday in Week 5, the Seahawks had one of their best players in franchise history in Walter Jones have the honors. On Thursday night, the Seahawks may be wearing the uniforms of the 1990’s, but it’s clear they are still feeling nostalgic for the 2000’s.

Longtime Seahawk cornerback Marcus Trufant will have the honors of raising the flag on Thursday.

Originally the No. 11 pick in the 2002 NFL draft for the Seahawks, Trufant quickly became a mainstay in the Seattle secondary. Playing for his hometown team, the Washington State alum would spend 11 of his 12 seasons in the league with the Seahawks.

Overall, Trufant recorded 646 tackles and 21 interceptions, with a career-best of seven in the 2007 campaign. It can certainly be argued Trufant was a key, yet unheralded, piece in helping to establish the Legion of Boom since he enjoyed three years under Pete Carroll from 2010-12. But perhaps his greatest accomplishment was being a starter on the beloved 2005 team, helping guide the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
