Marcus Smart excited Brown, Walker, Tatum to play vs Spurs

Down only Payton Pritchard and Romeo Langford for the game against San Antonio, it looks like the contest is not going to be postponed.

While there has been some concern the game might not be played, Boston Celtics veteran guard Marcus Smart confirmed the Celtics and San Antonio Spurs are at least at present on to play one another in the Texas city Wednesday night.

“We haven’t heard anything,” shared Smart ahead of the game. “We’re in game mode right now, and if we don’t play, we don’t.” After concerns the game might be rescheduled due to too many Spurs in the league’s health and safety protocols with their previous game having to be postponed for contact tracing, San Antonio is surprisingly only listing shooting guard Derrick White (broken toe) as out for the contest with Boston.

The Celtics are also deploying an unusually short list of unavailable players to the NBA’s injury list, with just rookie guard Payton Pritchard (sprained MCL) and Romeo Langford (wrist) out for the game.

Noting it’s the first time into a season with 16 games already under their belt he will be able to play with teammates Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in the same game, Smart said “I think we’re all excited to have everybody.”

“It feels like we’ve missed this for a very long time,” he added. So for us, this is great.”
