The Jets finally found a suitor for Sam Darnold.
New York officially traded the 23-year-old quarterback to the Panthers Monday in exchange for three draft selections. The Jets received a 2021 sixth-round pick and second- and fourth-round picks in 2022.
Darnold finished his Jets career completing 59.8% of his passes for 8,097 yards, 45 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. He was the NFL’s lowest-rated passer over the last three seasons as he dealt with a lackluster supporting cast and poor coaching.
Now Darnold will get a change of scenery that will likely benefit both sides. He’ll be coached by Matt Rhule and Joe Brady and surrounded by talents like Christian McCaffrey, Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore.
Jets fans, who were split between bringing Darnold back and drafting a quarterback, took to social media to voice their opinions regarding the blockbuster trade. One of Darnold’s now-former teammates and some NFL insiders shared their thoughts as well.

I hope he reaches his true potential, the organization hired the worst HC to develop him
He struggled in 2020, but deserved so much more support from his team

Traded three 2nd round picks to trade him away for 6th, 2nd and 4th round picks all to draft a young identical QB to play behind no offensive line all to watch darnold and Robby Anderson light it up in Carolina

I don’t know a single Jet fan who doesn’t wish Sam the best. For a young guy, he always acted with integrity and maturity. Hpoe he has success in Carolina.

To my beautiful boy Sam Darnold: I'm sorry for what they did to you in New York. Knock 'em dead in Carolina.

If Joe Brady can save Sam Darnold, I think Adam Gase has to leave the country.

Love this trade for all 3 parties.
NYJ get a valuable 2nd rd pick in 22 (plus 2 other picks) to build around Zach Wilson.
CAR was in no man’s land for QB in this draft. They get 23 yr old QB with a lot of talent. Now they can grab elite position player at 8
Sam- Fresh start
