The Tennessee Titans no longer have quarterback Marcus Mariota on the roster, but they do have another quarterback with Hawaii ties now in the mix.
The Titans added former Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald in the seventh round at pick No. 224, which creates some competition at backup quarterback for Logan Woodside.
Shortly after being selected, McDonald said on a conference call with reporters that he “idolized” Mariota, and had met him a couple of times.
Of course, he had nothing but good things to say about Mariota’s personality, something the former Titan and now Las Vegas Raiders quarterback has been commended on several times during his career.
#Titans draft pick McDonald: "Playing in Hawaii, Marcus is the man. Even before I played for Hawaii, I idolized him." Met him a couple times. Great person to be around.

It will be interesting to see if the Titans continue to bring in more players as they prepare to choose their backup quarterback ahead of the season, or if it will simply come down to a battle between Woodside and McDonald.
While it seems plausible for the Titans to bring in a veteran to throw into the mix, it’s just as possible that they’ll stick with this pair for the time being.
