Injuries to a backup quarterback may not scratch the surface of newsworthy items in many circles, but when it comes to the health of Marcus Mariota, as far as Oregon Ducks fans are concerned, that’s something to watch.
After his efforts for the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football, it should come as a concern for that fanbase as well. The Raiders opened the game with an offensive package on the first drive where Mariota was in for starting QB Derek Carr, and he took a read-option run up the middle for 31 yards, getting Las Vegas into scoring position to start the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

While he looked like the Mariota of old during the run, watching him get up was a somber experience, as it was clear that he had hurt something. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mariota re-aggravated a quad injury on the run and will miss several weeks going forward.
#Raiders QB Marcus Mariota is expected to be out multiple weeks after aggravating a quad injury during a 31-yard run on Monday night, source said. A few weeks is the best case scenario. This robs Las Vegas of a weapon, as they planned to sprinkle Mariota in on offense.

The Raiders should be able to make do without No. 8 going forward, but his addition in the running game will surely be missed. Duck fans will also miss the opportunity to complain that he should be getting looks at QB over Derek Carr. In time, though, both things will be back in our lives.
