March Madness: Indiana vs. Wyoming odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Indiana vs. Wyoming odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Indiana Hoosiers (20-13) and Wyoming Cowboys (25-8) tussle Tuesday for the No. 12 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Championship Tournament. Tip-off from UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio, is slated for 9:10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Indiana vs. Wyoming odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Indiana went just 2-7 from Feb. 5-March 5, but the Hoosiers acquitted themselves well enough in the Big Ten Tournament to earn a berth in Dayton. Indiana defeated Michigan 74-69 and current-No. 16-ranked Illinois 65-63 before falling in a close game 80-77 against No. 19 Iowa in the semifinals. IU led the Hawkeyes by 8 points with fewer than 5 minutes to play.

Wyoming built up enough credit with 11 Quad 1-2 victories to withstand a 4-5 mark down the stretch before bowing out to Boise State in the Mountain West tourney to make it into the NCAA field. The Cowboys excel at both ends of the free-throw frequency exchange, in and around the paint on offense, and in defending the arc at the other end. Wyoming is making its second NCAA appearance since 2002.

Indiana vs. Wyoming odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Indiana 70, Wyoming 65

Money line

PASS.

Indiana is a consideration at -165, but don’t figure on the line movement needed to put that price on the board.

Against the spread

The Hoosiers have won four in a row ATS. Wyoming is 1-4 ATS in its last five.

Wyoming’s offense has been stifled of late and hurt by turnovers recently, shooting just 38.5% from the field across seven games since Feb. 23. The Cowboys play their home games at high elevation, and they have a sharper-than-average home-road differential.

Indiana is a young team playing much better late-season ball under first-year head coach Mike Woodson. Look for IU’s athleticism to force some easy turnover-transition looks and for the Hoosiers — who just may be the sixth- or seventh-best team in this possibly loose East bracket — to advance with a win by 4 or more points.

BACK INDIANA -3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The mid-paced Hoosiers and slow-down Cowboys are producing a total low enough to leverage on the high side. Some positive shooting regression, transition-game buckets, and a decent expectation for a lot of foul shots makes for a moderate lean on the OVER 132.5 (-110).
