Malcolm Butler reveals what Tom Brady said after famous interception

Butler offered insight into what Tom Brady said following the enormous play.

Everyone remembers the famous Malcolm Butler interception that clinched New England’s Super Bowl XLIX victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Now, we know what Tom Brady told Butler following the play.

Butler was interviewed by Liam McHugh of NBC Sports as they re-broadcasted the Patriots-Seahawks Super Bowl on Tuesday. McHugh was able to pick Butler’s brain a bit, and find out his time in New England.

Interestingly enough, the reason why he was benched during the Super Bowl in Philadelphia was never found out during the course of this interview. Even still, it was fun to take a trip down memory lane.

“After the Super Bowl, you know, (Brady) telling me, ‘Malcolm, are you kidding me?’” Butler recalled when talking with McHugh. “But later on, after the game, he told me, ‘You finally caught one that counts.’ Because I used to pick him off in training camp, somewhat, and that was my first interception.”

Butler certainly had quite a career in New England. In a Patriots career spanning from 2014-17, he reached the Pro Bowl in 2015 and was named a Second-Team All-Pro in 2016.

One has to wonder if Butler will ever have  another play as big as his Super Bowl-sealing interception.
