A featherweight matchup is the latest addition to UFC 251.
On July 11, [autotag]Makwan Amirkhani[/autotag] will face [autotag]Danny Henry[/autotag] at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi – also known as “Fight Island.”
A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after an initial report from Sportti. The person asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Winner of two of his past three, Amirkhani (15-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC) is coming off a third-round stoppage loss to Shane Burgos this past November at UFC 244. Prior to that, he picked up back-to-back wins over Jason Knight and Chris Fishgold.
After scoring wins in his first two octagon bouts over Daniel Teymur and Hakeem Dawodu, Henry (12-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was submitted in the first round by Dan Ige in March 2019 in London.
With the addition, the UFC 251 lineup includes:
- Champ Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns – for the UFC welterweight title
- Champ Alexander Volkanovski vs. Max Holloway – for the UFC featherweight title
- Jose Aldo vs. Petr Yan – for the vacant UFC bantamweight title
- Amanda Ribas vs. Paige VanZant
- Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Ciryl Gane
- Volkan Oezdemir vs. Jiri Prochazka
- Raulian Paiva vs. Zhalgas Zhumagulov
- Makwan Amirkhani vs. Danny Henry
