Major takeaways from Washington’s full Madden 21 ratings reveal

All of the ratings for Washington’s team were released this week, and many of the numbers leave a lot to be desired going forward.

The long and arduous wait for fans of the Washington football team is over; the full set of EA Madden 21 ratings are finally out for all to view.

While the past week has been filled with a number of storylines in Washington — mostly bad — one thing that was going on in the background was the slow-burn release of Madden 21 ratings, which is something that would normally enthrall fans in a regular offseason. All rookie ratings were released, as well as top players at their positions, but everyone outside of those two categories had to wait.

Unfortunately for Washington, that meant there was a lot of waiting to do. But nonetheless, the players in Burgundy & Gold finally had their day, as the bulk of the numbers were finally released.

Alright, let’s break that down a little bit.

Cream of the Crop

It’s hard to look past the fact that the top overall rated player on the team is Brandon Scherff, with only an 87 overall rating. On that same note, there are only 11 total players on the roster who are an 80 or better, meaning that the rest are either considered average or below average.

Also, if you were to list the best six players on the team, who would they be? Probably not who was listed as the best here. Scherff, Kendall Fuller, Matt Ioannidis, Ryan Kerrigan, Daron Payne, and Tress Way. Not exactly the players who get the most shine in Washington.

Skill Position Lacking

It doesn’t bode well that the highest-rated skill position player on the team is Terry McLaurin, who sits at an 82 overall. Even worse is that there are only two skill-players over an 80, with Derrius Guice joining the group at 81. The next highest player is Adrian Peterson, at 78.

A conservative start

Chase Young only an 80 overall? I guess. This distinction definitely has a lot to do with the fact that Young hasn’t played any games in the NFL, and it’s hard to give him too much credit before he shows what he can really do. However, when you consider that players like Nick Bosa (89) or Myles Garret (93) are so much higher, it’s safe to assume that Young’s rating will skyrocket over the coming years.

A ‘Prove It’ Rating

Did you get tired of scrolling in order to find where Dwayne Haskins was rated? I’ll save you the trouble, it’s near the bottom of Page 2, with a 70 overall. A 76 speed and 83 accuracy isn’t anything to celebrate, though his 89 throw power is at least decent. Let’s see how Haskins can prove himself as a potential franchise QB in 2020, and then we’ll see what we can do about his Madden ratings going forward.
