CD Projekt Red is allegedly gearing up for a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.
According to Axios reporter Stephen Totilo, there’s a lot of staff hiring at CD Projekt Red for unannounced titles. One of them is allegedly an expansion to the company’s futuristic open-world action RPG.
“[CD Projekt Red] says it is ‘expanding teams responsible for developing a major expansion for Cyberpunk‘ and other unannounced projects,” Totilo said on Twitter. “And if you were wondering why there seemed to be more [CD Projekt Red] news making the rounds in recent days, one reason is they’re reporting quarterly results to investors [Monday].”
There are no details on what this expansion might entail just yet, though the company reaffirmed that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 will come out early in 2022.

Despite Cyberpunk 2077’s infamous launch last year, there’s been a fair bit of positive buzz around the game as of late. During Steam’s Black Friday Autumn Sale, Cyberpunk 2077 became the platform’s top-selling title. Adam Kiciński, the president and CEO of CD Projekt Red, also recently said he believes everyone will think Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game eventually.
Hard to say if that latter sentiment will blossom into reality, though if the studio commits to updating and fixing Cyberpunk 2077, it just might.
