Orlando Magic rookie Jalen Suggs will miss the remainder of the Las Vegas Summer League as a precautionary measure due to a left thumb sprain, the team announced on Friday.
Suggs suffered the injury in the first half on Thursday versus the Boston Celtics. He appeared to injure himself after he was fouled by Celtics guard Carsen Edwards. Suggs fell to the court following the foul and came up in visible discomfort holding his left hand.
He left the game and did not return.
The team conducted an MRI on the thumb and the results confirmed Suggs had suffered a sprain. The injury ends a promising summer league run for Suggs, who averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games.

Suggs looked every bit of a top-five draft pick in Las Vegas. He dazzled with his scoring, leadership and confidence, something the Magic have long needed. They will certainly be cautious with the injury and not risk any further damage.
He likely didn’t have much else to prove in summer league as the organization looks to have him 100% ready for training camp next month. Certainly, his showing gave the team and fans reason to be hopeful for the future.
