Orlando Magic rookie Jalen Suggs suffered a sprained right ankle on Saturday in a 104-92 loss to the Washington Wizards, head coach Jamahl Mosley said.
Suggs initially suffered the injury just 33 seconds into the fourth quarter after he appeared to swat the ball away from a defender. He was able to walk off of the court under his power but would not return to the contest. Mosley did not have an update after the game.
“We’re going to just keep monitoring it and see where it goes,” Mosley said.
Suggs recorded eight points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 24 minutes of work prior to the injury. He has started in every game for the Magic (3-10) to this point of the season, averaging 11.3 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 28.1 minutes.

The Magic begin a five-game road trip on Monday with the Atlanta Hawks. The status of Suggs to start that trip is not certain as the team will take extreme caution with the injury and not rush him back into action too quickly.
Orlando has deployed the same five-man starting lineup in every game this season and could be forced to turn to another player in place of Suggs should he be unable to go versus the Hawks.
