Magic Johnson calls Spurs the ‘biggest elephant in the room’

NBA Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson had some high praise for Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

The San Antonio Spurs were one of the worst teams in the NBA this year. However, the emergence of Victor Wembanyama as a superstar meant that the season wasn’t completely in vain. And when NBA Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson was recounting all of the top teams in the West recently, he called the Spurs the “biggest elephant in the room.”

“Laker Nation, we have a problem,” Johnson wrote in a Tweet. “All the good teams in the West are young and talented: the Nuggets, the Timberwolves, the Thunder, and the Mavs. And the BIGGEST elephant in the room is the Spurs, who with Victor Wembanyama, will definitely be a playoff team next season. For the Lakers to compete with all these teams, the roster MUST improve.”

Johnson believes the Spurs will be a playoff team next year, even taking the time to acknowledge them in his plead for the Los Angeles Lakers roster to improve.

It’s more clear than ever that the league knows that the Spurs are on the way up, and they are rapidly rising.
