The San Antonio Spurs were one of the worst teams in the NBA this year. However, the emergence of Victor Wembanyama as a superstar meant that the season wasn’t completely in vain. And when NBA Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson was recounting all of the top teams in the West recently, he called the Spurs the “biggest elephant in the room.”
“Laker Nation, we have a problem,” Johnson wrote in a Tweet. “All the good teams in the West are young and talented: the Nuggets, the Timberwolves, the Thunder, and the Mavs. And the BIGGEST elephant in the room is the Spurs, who with Victor Wembanyama, will definitely be a playoff team next season. For the Lakers to compete with all these teams, the roster MUST improve.”
Johnson believes the Spurs will be a playoff team next year, even taking the time to acknowledge them in his plead for the Los Angeles Lakers roster to improve.
