New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones seemed to win the team’s rookie skits this week. In an effort to get the rookies more comfortable in the locker room, New England has its first-year players put on performances. Apparently, that meant that Jones, the team’s top pick at 15th overall, got an opportunity to impersonate incumbent starter Cam Newton.
Jones put on a scarf and a big hat and dropped a bunch of Newton’s clever turns of phrase. It seems that particular skit made an impression on the Patriots.
“It was funny to see him get out of character,” defensive back Jalen Mills told reporters on Monday.
