Luke Kuechly: Teddy Bridgewater ‘understands it’s a performance-based business’

Luke Kuechly says the trade reports haven’t bothered Bridgewater, who understands it’s a performance-based business.

Teddy Bridgewater remains the Carolina Panthers’ starting quarterback… for now. This offseason has been rife with speculation, rumors and reports that the team is looking for an upgrade at the position after a disappointing 2020 season from Teddy.

His work on the field left much to be desired, but Bridgewater has nailed every other part of the gig as Carolina’s QB1. Luke Kuechly says the trade reports haven’t bothered Bridgewater, who understands it’s a performance-based business.

While there’s nobody claiming Bridgewater is anything but a “good dude,” it’s also not enough to save his job.

If the Panthers are unable to swing a trade for Deshaun Watson – who they’re still interested in trading for despite recent sexual assault allegations – our guess is they will use their first-round pick on one of this year’s top quarterback prospects. They may need to trade up from the No. 8 overall spot to get one, though.
