LSU’s Tiger Stadium to open season at 25% capacity, no tailgating allowed

LSU is the 12th team in the SEC to announce such a plan for fans in 2020.

The LSU Tigers have one of the best home-field advantages in all of college football. Tiger Stadium is one of just a few stadiums in all of college football that seats over 100,000 fans.

Unfortunately, in 2020 — at least to begin the season — Death Valley will not see its full capacity due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The state of Louisiana, in conjunction with LSU and the SEC, announced Tiger Stadium would begin the season with just 25% capacity. Also, there will be no tailgating allowed for the foreseeable future.

Much like the different guidelines each state has imposed during the pandemic, plans can change as officials monitor the numbers.

Single-game tickets will not be available for purchase while capacity is limited. The 25,000 fans allowed inside of the stadium will consist of season-ticket holders and students.

Fans must wear masks at all times inside the stadium unless consuming food or beverages.

The Tigers open the season on Sept. 26 against Mike Leach’s Mississippi State Bulldogs, who are expected to be a completely different animal offensively this season.
