The LSU Tigers are set to finally open the 2020 season in just 10 days. Arriving at that point hasn’t been easy, though, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Head coach Ed Orgeron spoke to the media via teleconference on Tuesday and revealed “most” of his players have tested positive for COVID-19, per Glenn Guilbeau of the Lafayette Daily Advertiser.
“I think most — not all of our players — but most of our players have caught it,” Orgeron said. “So, I think hopefully they don’t catch it again and hopefully they’re not out for games.”
Orgeron noted how just two weeks ago most of LSU’s offensive line was in quarantine after having either tested positive or been exposed to someone who had tested positive.

“Two weeks ago, everybody on our offensive line except two or three guys were out,” he said. “We adjusted very well.”
Later in the interview, Orgeron was pressed on exactly how many of his players tested positive and he again reiterated it was “most” of the team.
The Tigers are set to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sept. 26 in Tiger Stadium.
