LSU’s defensive keys to the game vs. Mississippi State

The LSU defense will have to contain K.J. Costello and Kylin Hill on Saturday to keep the Bulldogs from driving down the field.

Stop the run game

Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill is a great north-south running back that can burst into speed quickly on the outside edge and in open holes.

Last season, LSU was exceptional in stopping the run. The battle in the trenches will be key, and leaving Hill with no open space could prove a key factor for Bo Pelini’s defense.

Hill is coming off a 2019 season in which he rushed for 1,350 yards and 10 touchdowns on 242 carries. He averaged 5.6 yards per rush. Containing him on the first tackle will be key for the Tigers.
