LSU could have one of the nation’s top quarterbacks once again this season as [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] is set to take over for Heisman winner [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] after three years of waiting and some impressive flashes in a backup role.
But beyond Nussmeier, the quarterback room is still solid. The Tigers added transfer [autotag]AJ Swann[/autotag] to a room that already included redshirt freshman [autotag]Rickie Collins[/autotag], and in the 2024 recruiting class, it signed four-star quarterback [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag].
It will probably be some time before Hurley makes an impact on the field. The Jacksonville, Florida, signal-caller reclassified from the 2025 class and was just 16 years old when he enrolled at LSU in January. But the talent is there with Hurley, who was considered among the top 2025 passers before he reclassified.
Phil Steele named Hurley one of his top 25 freshman quarterbacks in the country.
Hurley’s ranking took a bit of a hit when he reclassified, and he ultimately finished as the No. 356 player and No. 25 quarterback in the 247Sports composite rankings.
He is almost certainly heading for a redshirt season in Year 1, but with some development, he has the chance to be the next great LSU quarterback.
