Since taking over as head coach in 2016, Ed Orgeron has taken the LSU football program to new heights.

In just three full seasons as head coach, Orgeron led LSU to an undefeated season, a national championship, their first College Football Playoff appearance, plus multiple bowl games.

Currently, Orgeron is 40-9 as full-time head coach for the Tigers. He has revolutionized the recruiting game for the Tigers, and has kept LSU as a powerhouse in that area.

In his three seasons at the helm, the Tigers have finished in the top 15 in recruiting every year, and in the top 5 two times since 2017.

Taking over for Les Miles may have been a tough challenge at first for Orgeron. Coaching in the Bayou and having to face perennial conference powerhouse teams like Alabama, Auburn and Florida every year is no easy task.

However, Coach O has signified LSU’s place in the SEC for many years to come. It started when he was named the full-time head coach after the 2016 season. Once he began bringing in the big name recruits, the wins for the program started to come to fruition.

Many may argue that Orgeron is in a close race with Miles for best head football coach of the decade. Given, Miles did spend more time during the past ten seasons coaching the team.

But, Orgeron takes it slightly. Due to the national championship, SEC Championship, and the recruiting trail that he has brought to the program, Orgeron is thought of by Tigers fans as one of the best coaches in program history.

If he keeps winning, we could see Orgeron remain in Baton Rouge for many years to come.
