The Cincinnati Bengals sit at the No. 5 spot in the 2021 NFL draft after Sunday’s 37-31 victory over the Houston Texans. One projection has them bringing home an LSU wide receiver to join ex-Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow.
In his latest mock draft, Pro Football Focus’ Austin Gayle pinned wideout Ja’Marr Chase to Cincinnati.
“A Burrow-Chase reunion is in order for Cincinnati if they do indeed fall out of the Sewell sweepstakes,” Gayle wrote. “The former LSU wideout is currently PFF’s No. 1 wide receiver and No. 5 overall player in the 2021 class. He also earned the third-ranked PFF receiving grade (91.3) in college football at just 19 years of age as a true sophomore in 2019.”
Chase was the lone LSU player projected to be chosen by a team in the first round — a far cry from how last year played out after the Tigers went undefeated and topped a dominant Clemson team in the national championship.

Chase did not play this year, choosing to opt out ahead of the season, but he was quite the force for the LSU offense in his time on the field.
Over two seasons at LSU, Chase reeled in 107 passes for 2,093 yards and 23 touchdowns. The 2019 season was far and away his best: He recorded 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns.
