LSU Tigers maintain their stranglehold on the No. 1 ranking

LSU maintains hold on the No. 1 ranking.

The LSU Tigers remain on top of the baseball world with their No. 1 ranking after winning 15 of their first 16 matchups. The lone loss came against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Round Rock Class. Since that time, the Tigers have won 10 straight. They will next face New Orleans before opening SEC play against the Texas A&M Aggies.

The biggest winners of this week’s poll are the Campbell Fighting Camels, who have won four straight games to jump up eight spots to the No. 23 spot. The South Carolina Gamecocks are up to No. 14 jumping six spots with their 16-1 record. The Gamecocks suffered their first loss to in-state rival Clemson before rattling off seven straight wins.

The big losers in this week’s poll are the Stanford Cardinal and Virginia Tech Hokies, who each dropped six spots. Stanford has dropped three of the last four games against USC and Santa Clara. Virginia Tech dropped two of three games to Boston College over the weekend.
