LSU starting wide receiver CJ Daniels entering transfer portal

LSU’s offense took a hit on Tuesday with a top receiver entering the portal

LSU football took its most significant transfer portal yet on Tuesday with reports indicating wide receiver CJ Daniels plans to transfer.

The transfer portal officially opens next week, but names are flooding the market already.

Last week, LSU head coach Brian Kelly said the Tigers expected Daniels to return in 2025. He spent one year in Baton Rouge after transferring from Liberty.

2025 will be Daniels’ sixth year of college football. He has a COVID redshirt and took a redshirt in 2022, only playing four games.

Daniels dealt with an injury throughout 2024 but was a real contributor when he was in the lineup. He caught 42 passes for 480 yards and didn’t find the end zone.

In 2023 at Liberty, Daniels was one of the most efficient receivers in the country. He caught 55 passes for 1,067 yards, putting him at an average of 19.4 yards per catch. He caught 10 touchdowns too.

This is a loss for an LSU offense that looked a lot more stable with Daniels in the lineup.

So far, four Tigers are set to enter the portal. With the season just getting underway, there will be more.
