It didn’t take long for former LSU linebacker Patrick Queen to become a starter in the NFL.
Originally selected in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens back in April, Queen navigated a difficult offseason that included no OTAs or minicamps, and impressed the team enough to name him the starter at middle linebacker.
The Ravens have quite the history at middle linebacker in players like Ray Lewis and C.J. Mosley.
Both, like Queen, were selected in the first round by the Ravens. Lewis manned the middle for 17 seasons, followed by Mosley who filled the post for five years before departing for New York after the 2018 season.

Queen certainly understands the pressure he’s under.
“All eyes are on you, so everything you’ve got to do, you’ve got to do it to the best of your ability,” Queen said in the interview with ESPN. “You’ve got to be that leader. You’ve got to carry yourself well. You’ve got to be that vocal guy in and out.”
The interesting thing about Queen is he didn’t even begin his final season at LSU as a starter. Injuries forced him into the lineup early in 2019 and Queen became one of the best linebackers in college football.
Lewis and Mosley combined for 16 Pro Bowl appearances in their 22 seasons with the Ravens. Queen has big shoes to fill, but his time at LSU proved he is more than capable.
